Benny Ashburn and Teo Hunter created Crowns and Hops with the intention of bringing diversity to the predominantly white Craft Beer industry. They started by producing events and creating partnerships and have now evolved to contract brewing and selling their own beer through partnerships with Henhouse and Three Weavers. A tiny percentage of breweries in America are Black owned. Ashburn and Hunter realized the best way to change that was not only through promoting black and brown participation in the industry, but by being part of the change themselves. They’ve been featured in Time, Rolling Stone and Vice and have built a huge Social Media following. The next step is a brick and mortar taproom/brewery in Indglewood, a project for which they are currently crowdfunding. Crowns and Hops have a lot of people rooting for them, and the beers are excellent as well. Enjoy!

Cheers!
