Since 1992

Our wine and spirits shop has been around since 1992, focused on providing wine, beer and spirits with a curated twist. We pull from our restaurant wine lists, ask sommeliers and all the snobs out there so you don't have to.

Our Ethos

Real Wine. Real People. Real Memories.

We opened in 1992 to make buying wine feel less like a test. The selection is wide, the prices are fair, and the people behind the counter also pour at Balboa Cafe and Wildhawk and make wine at the PlumpJack Collection wineries. Our job is to help you find the bottle, then get out of the way.

We're Passionate About What We Buy.

Our Purchasing Philosophy

We buy what we drink. Every bottle on the shelf got there because someone here tasted it and wanted another glass. That means a lot of small producers, a few big names worth the hype, and no filler.

Stories from the Clubs

Our clubs are the shop in a box: a few bottles picked each month, the notes on why, and first dibs on the things that don’t stay on the shelf long. It’s the closest thing to having one of us shop for you.

Approachable & Curated

A $15 Tuesday red and a $300 Burgundy get the same respect here, and so do the questions about them. Ask anything. Nobody’s grading.

Our Story

PlumpJack Wine & Spirits opened in 1992 at Fillmore and Greenwich, with one idea: buying wine shouldn’t be intimidating. Big selection, fair prices, and staff who’d rather answer your question than impress you.

The name comes from Shakespeare’s Falstaff, “plump Jack,” the character who believed wine was meant for fun and good company. We’ve held to that ever since. Two shops later, it’s still the same deal: come in, tell us what you’re cooking or who you’re shopping for, and leave with something good.
