Bogle’s “heritage” Petite Sirah is known for its concentration and jammy, luscious flavors. The 2016 vintage is no exception. Dark purple stains the glass, while inky and succulent blueberries and blackberries overwhelm the palate. Juicy plums and rhubarb come together, followed by touches of roasted, savory and earthy tones that round out the mouthfeel. Supple and spicy, this full bodied wine was aged in American oak for 12 months. Toasty vanilla, mocha and a bit of cocoa combine with ample tannins to create a finish with structure and character.
Our Estate Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon has aromas of boysenberry jam, blueberry compote, wild lavender, chocolate covered cherries, roasted coffee, rose petals ripple through your senses with a kiss of graham crackers and toast marshmallow. Velvety on the palate with a satin mouthfeel with bold skyscraper tannins. The finishing flavors are echoes of the initial aromas, with warm cherry pie, cran-raspberry jam, cocoa nibs, toasted cinnamon, fresh strawberry and raspberry coulis.
The 2015 vintage was a memorable one, with extreme drought conditions, early bud break, low yields and hot growing conditions throughout the season. Our harvest initiated and concluded very early, almost two weeks ahead of average. This formula resulted in a beautiful wine with abundant aromas of whole cloves, wild blackberries & boysenberries and baked blueberry pie. Texturally, the wine coats your palate like soft, smooth satin but maintains an elegant structure. The 2015 vintage has an elegance and roundness to it which makes it ideal for drinking now or cellaring for 5-7 years.
The 2011 growing season was cool and the latest on record for CADE. Following some unseasonable rain in October, the fruit from our Estate sitting at 1800 feet in elevation actually had a chance to dry out and gain ripeness. The wines are a bit lower in alcohol but still have the classic Howell Mountain tannins and bright red and black fruit. The 2011 CADE Estate Cabernet is a powerful and dynamic wine with all of the bright, savory and floral notes typical of the year. Our Estate Cab is done in an approachable Howell Mountain style, with subdued tannins and terrific overall balance.

Beginning in the late 1970s, Gary Farrell was working with seminal Russian River Valley vintners such as Davis Bynum, Joe Rochioli, Tom Dehlinger and Robert Stemmler - a group that was instrumental in showcasing the world-class Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays of the nascent Russian River Valley AVA, a breathtaking, redwood-studded wine region 55 miles north of San Francisco whose mighty river cuts a scenic swath through the heart of Sonoma County. He made his first wine under the Gary Farrell label in 1982 and built the winery into one of the most acclaimed producers of small-lot Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays in the Russian River Valley.
The Russian River Selection bottling is blended from grapes from the winery's top vineyard sources. It’s a beautiful expression of their varietal type and of the appellation's unique terroir, capturing the richness, purity and elegance that are Gary Farrell Winery's trademarks.
The 2014 vintage received 95 points from Wine Enthusiast: “Bringing together multiple sites in one wine, this provides a fine example of the sum equalling more than the parts. Well balanced and crafted, it offers aromas of sandalwood and smoked meat that contrast with more exuberant, textured layers of black cherry and citrus peel.” (Feb 2017)
