Glenglassaugh

For this quarter’s club, we are featuring a single cask selected by our friends in the San Francisco Bourbon Whiskey and Scotch Society. SFWBSS began as a Facebook group for Bay Area whisk(e)y enthusiasts and has since expanded its activity into online and in person events and exclusive barrel selections. We are excited to share one of their exclusive selections with you. If you are interested in joining the group, visit www.facebook.com/groups/SFWhiskies.

Glenglassaugh Cask 2148 9 year 2012 Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Region: Highlands

When Brown-Forman acquired the BenRiach Distillery Company in 2016, it became the owner of three remarkable Scottish distilleries, each with their own unique history and reputation for quality of malt. These names are likely familiar to you: GlenDronach, BenRiach, and Glenglassaugh.

And while all three distilleries have been experiencing something of a modern renaissance of late—especially under the guidance of the now legendary Master Blender, Dr. Rachel Barrie—it’s always been difficult to find a single cask expression of Glenglassaugh here in the States (or any expression for that matter).

So when we had the rare and enviable opportunity to get our hands on an original bottling, directly from Glenglassaugh, we knew we had to jump at it!

At 9 years of age and matured in a wine hogshead, our cask delivers a delectable rush of pink cotton candy, jelly donuts, and raspberry maple syrup. In the mouth, stewed dark fruits, peaches and pears, and homemade chocolate milk. This is a gourmand’s delight, finishing with a sweet and savory mix of jam, cocoa, and baked goods. Imagine being a kid in a candy store, but for breakfast!

It goes without saying that we’re incredibly excited to share this one with you. Whether you’re an experienced malt head or just newly interested in the scotch world, this one is guaranteed to be a crowd pleaser that you won’t want to miss.
