Gamble "The Mill Keeper" Cabernet Sauvignon

$16.99

The 2019 Mill Keeper Cabernet is one of those unbelievable values that simply doesn’t come around often—if ever again. Originally crafted to retail around $40, this wine was sourced from the highly regarded Gamble Ranch vineyards, spread across prime Napa AVAs like Oakville and Yountville. Third-generation vintner Tom Gamble is a cornerstone of Napa’s farming heritage, supplying fruit to icons like Realm and Philippe Melka. To make this wine, Gamble tapped Ross Dawkins, former assistant winemaker at Pahlmeyer, bringing serious pedigree to the cellar. The original pricing made perfect sense given the vineyard sources and talent involved—but a branding overhaul shifted the winery’s focus, and we had the opportunity to swoop in and secure some inventory of this soon-to-be-retired label. We didn’t hesitate. Why would we? $17 for estate-grown Napa Cab from Oakville and Yountville—crafted by a top-tier winemaker—is a no-brainer. The wine itself is plush and full-bodied, overflowing with layers of ripe blackberry, cassis, boysenberry, and blueberry. Earthy undertones, dried herbs, cocoa, and a gentle kiss of oak spice round out the profile, giving it the kind of polished finish you expect from bottles priced at twice—or even three times—this amount. This is weeknight luxury, Napa-style. But don’t wait—at this unheard-of price, it won’t stay on the shelves for long.
