UNTI Sangiovese

Our 2021 Sangiovese really represents our relentless pursuit of making wine worthy of Tuscany. This 100% Sangiovese is a blend of two small vineyard blocks, all planted to the Sangiovese Grosso clone, which is used to make Brunello in Montalcino. It includes vines planted in 2007 to very tight vine spacing, and our original hillside vines planted in 1992.a 

2021 was an outstanding vintage across the board for us. Our 2021 Sangiovese is particularly concentrated, thanks to a low crop-set, and a growing season that facilitated slow, even ripening - both important variables to making great Sangiovese.  The result is a rare example of a California Sangiovese that has the depth and structure of a Chianti Riserva or vineyard designate, with more expressive fruit. A wine like this makes it all worthwhile!
