Liska Willamette Valley Mondeuse

$30.99

Winery Notes: This light-body expression of Mondeuse spent 5 days soaking on its skins, slowly extracting a bit of color and tannin before we pressed it off. Fermentation completed in neutral barrels, where the wine then aged for 9 months on its lees. The resulting wine occupies a space somewhere between a rosé and a traditional red wine, possessing a balance of savory interest and fruit, as well as enough tannin to give it some structural dimension.

Our Tasting Notes: A fun take on this relatively obscure grape known for making highly structured and peppery wines in Eastern France, especially the Savoie region. The nose shows notes of red and black berries along with tomato leaf, mushroom, and potting soil.  Medium bodied with bright acidity and grippy tannins, a peppery savoriness melds with flavors of fresh blackberry and dark cherry with a dry earthy finish.  A great alternative for fan of cool climate Syrah.
