Le Piane Maggiorina
"The 2015 Maggiorina is a crazy blend of more than 13 different grape varieties harvested from 25 separate vineyard sites. Leading roles are taken by the Nebbiolo, Croatina and Vespolina grapes, but there are white and aromatic varieties in there as well. This is a youthful and easy-drinking red wine that is buoyant and carefree in spirit. The wine is made in stainless steel with a brief maceration period. It's a simple and refreshing wine, but it is not banal. Drink it within the next two years. Christoph Künzli is a man of infectious charisma and joyful optimism. I highly recommend a visit to his little tasting room on the main square in the town of Boca. He also produces some of the finest wines you will find in Alto Piemonte. This high-performing winery is a true treasure not only for Piedmont but for Italian wine in general." -Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
