Grapes: Picpoul, Viognier, Roussanne, Vermentino, Petite Sirah, Mourvèdre

Vineyard: Located on a steep hill right on Clear Lake in Lake County, Lovett Vineyard is planted to the vibrant Rhône varieties Picpoul Blanc, Viognier, Roussanne, Vermentino, Petite Sirah and Mourvèdre. These twenty year old vines come with a picturesque view of the ancient lake (2.5 million years old!) and the volcanic Mount Konocti. Although it's been dormant for about 10,000 years, the volcano continues to have an effect on the beautiful landscape and amazing soils found within the vineyard itself. We've had our eye on this site for a while, and we're grateful to Humberto Nunez and his farming team for taking on the stewardship of this site as we begin to lease it for our 2022 vintage.

AVA: Lake County

Method:  The reverse saignée was where half of the total fruit was added to a fermenter as uncrushed destemmed berries. The other half (Petite Sirah & Mourvèdre) was direct-pressed juice that was pressed into those clusters and pumped over daily. It was left on the skins for five days until it was pressed and aged on lees in 225L neutral oak barrels for 7 months, with no battonage and topped every 2 weeks. As always - unfined, unfiltered, no SO2.
