The Black Sears Estate Zinfandel is the best Zinfandel in the universe. Head-trained, dry-farmed, 43-year old vines on ol’ St George rootstock, with the bud wood coming from the historic Hayne Vineyard.
Layered, nuanced, and as complex and mysterious as Dostoevsky with more herbs and spices than the Colonel, this is a big mountain Zin that drinks more like a Cab. Pair with leg of lamb, pepperoni pizza, or anything you can think of to blacken, grill, or smoke.
Winery owner Kurt Russell named this beauty after the love of his life. You've heard of her, right? If that's not reason enough to give it a try, maybe you need to reset your Romance-O-Meter. Russell personally produces the wine alongside Peter and Rebecca Work of Ampelos Cellars in California's Santa Rita Hills, where they make award-winning wines from their triple-certified vineyard. Well-balanced, un-buttery with a crisp finish. Absolutely delightful, just like its namesake.
Hale Mary Pinot Noir and Chardonnay are made in an Old World style, using minimal intervention to allow the wines to reveal the sensuous, complex qualities of these exceptional varietals. Our grapes are sourced from some of the finest vineyards in the cool growing regions of the Russian River Valley, and are patiently handcrafted into balanced, food-friendly wines that age exceptionally well. Hale Mary wines are made in small lots and only available at fine restaurants and through the Hale Mary Mailing List. Please see below for a list of our restaurant partners and to learn more about joining our mailing list.
Aged 10 months in French oak barrels
Tasting Notes: quince, dried fruit, citrus
This wine is delightfully forward, showing off a lifted aroma packed with ripe brambleberry, blueberry pie, blackberry jam, cassis and dark cherries. A generous allowance of new oak crafted by our favorite French coopers contributes a mosaic of spices - sweet Madagascar vanilla bean, anise, cinnamon, nutmeg and sandalwood. Dried porcini mushrooms, cola, caramel, cocoa, chai spice and a hint of Earl Grey tea complete the intricately layered profile.

This vibrant wine greets us with the delicate fragrance of jasmine, honeysuckle and cherry blossoms, along with blood orange and lime zest. Ripe white peach, nectarine, Pink Lady apple and Asian pear add intriguing dimensions. Toasted brioche, hazelnut and hibiscus tea further expand its elegant nature. The palate is a heightened reflection of aroma, bursting with more citrus and stone fruits and showing a bit of the wet-stone minerality that will develop with time. The long, layered finish follows through with just a hint of sweet pink grapefruit.
