Sandlands Red Table Wine
Sandlands is the personal project of Tegan Passalacqua, the winemaker/vineyard manager at the iconic Turley Wine Cellars. The line-up encompasses the forgotten classic California varieties, primarily grown in decomposed granite (sand), from regions and vineyards that have been farmed for many generations but have remained the outliers of California viticulture. Primarily head-trained, dry-farmed and own rooted, the vineyards harken back to California’s roots of exploration, wonder, and hard work.
The 2020 Lodi Red Table Wine is an intentional blend of three varieties and three vineyards in three equal parts, composed of Cinsault from the Bechthold Vineyard (1886), Carignane from Spenker Ranch (1900) and Zinfandel from Kirschenmann Vineyard (1915), the home ranch in Victor. Black cherry, orange zest, black tea, bright, velvety finish. 12.6% alc. 12 barrels and two 500 liter puncheons produced.
