This wine comes from the Don Miguel vineyard in Sebastopol, where the Tempranillo vines are head-trained — the most traditional and natural method for cultivating this variety. The oldest and most prized own-rooted Tempranillo vines in Spain’s Rioja and Ribera del Duero regions also follow this head-training technique, known locally as “En Vaso” (meaning “in glass”), due to the gobletlike shape the vines take on as they mature. The wine offers a complex, aromatic profile with vibrant notes of violets, black tea, and dark fruit. On the palate, it combines graphite, earthy mushroom, and deep, ripe berries.
