Gérard Millet 2024 Sancerre Blanc
Importer Notes: Steve Millet is a 34 year old, 6th generation grower-winemaker in Bue (home to the myriad branches of the Crochet family tree, JM Roger, etc). Steve's 2024 Sancerre Blanc is a perfect, uber-typical example of "serious, grown up Sancerre" that's all about typicity: firm limestone/oyster shell minerality and pithy citrus fruit one expects, plus an impressive layer cake of white peony and chrysanthemum floral notes, a sprinkle of delicate nectarine and white peach, and the whole experience wraps up with an impressively long and satisfying finish. No overcropped grassy notes, no overripe tropical fruit, no goofy/leesy winemaking - just pure Sancerre terroir + egoless cellar work. Fruit originates predominantly from La Chene Marchand (arguably Sancerre's second or third most prestigious site) and vinification is 100% in stainless steel tank. If you're looking for a rock solid, classic and crowd-pleasing Sancerre, this is your bottle.
