Aromas of caramelized orange peel, apricot and brown sugar evoking notes of milk chocolate covered strawberry, star anise, cardamom and toasted hazelnuts. Opens again with caramelized citrus notes evolving into dark chocolate, fig and cocoa butter. There is a savory complexity, subtle earthiness with hints of oxidized wine, like a rich vintage port. Overall this is a lengthy yet soft rum, especially for the proof with elegant complexity.
