Brewer-Clifton Machado Pinot Noir 2021 750ml

"Beautifully floral cranberry and cherry aroma. Gorgeous cherry and green-herb flavours mix with raspberry and a hint of dark earth. Woody and slightly resinous hints of the whole-cluster fermentation linger in the finish. A really beautiful wine." 18/20 Points Jancis Robinson

"Sourced from a 6ha plot owned by the Machado family comes this mesmerising and thought-provoking Pinot Noir from the Sta Rita Hills and the inimitable Greg Brewer. This wine has a sinewy muscularity that comes from its ripeness but is undeniably fresh and vibrant. Brewer focuses on clarity in communicating the Sta Rita Hills in his Pinot Noir. Whole cluster and neutral barrels are key elements of his winemaking approach. The aromatics are both generous and measured. Notes of candied berries mingle with feral savoury elements and harken to notions of turned earth, fresh mint and marjoram. The palate shows lush berries, ample savoury spice, white pepper, crushed black tea leaves and pine sap. It reveals itself over the course of moments spent in contemplation and sheer enjoyment." 97 Points Decanter

"The 2021 Pinot Noir Machado has deep, gently broody scents of pomegranate, blackberry, Angostura bitters and dark spices. The medium-bodied palate is chalky with vibrant acidity, a concentrated core of spicy fruit and a long, layered finish." 94 Points Robert Parker Wine Advocate

"Lastly, the 2021 Pinot Noir Machado is similarly darker ruby and translucently hued and offers up a smorgasbord-like array of red and black berries, smoked herbs, underbrush, and gamey, foresty, marine-like nuances. Flawlessly balanced, deep, rich, and textured, it has an awesome mid-palate, integrated tannins, and heavenly finish. This incredible Pinot Noir stopped me in my tracks and might be the finest I've tasted from Brewer. It can be drunk any time over the coming 10-15 years." 99 Points Jeb Dunnuck

Brewer-Clifton Machado Pinot Noir is one of Brewer-Clifton’s flagship single-vineyard offerings from their sustainably farmed estate vineyard in Sta. Rita Hills. Winemaker Greg Brewer has dedicated his winemaking life to the ten-mile-long Sta. Rita Hills AVA in Santa Barbara County, California. Pinot Noir is the most celebrated red wine varietal in Sta. Rita Hills with rolling terrain and sandy loam soils which offers textures of black tea and silt in the finished wine. This red wine features aromas of cherry, rhubarb and mint with flavors of blackberry, boysenberry and allspice. Pair with tri-tip, mushroom risotto, duck breast and roasted peppers. This bottled California pinot noir is 14.5% alcohol by volume.
