Earthy and smoky aromas are followed by those of plum, vanilla and spice. The complex medley of flavors include plum, blackberry jam, tobacco, anise and sweet oak. The sturdy but softly integrated tannins yield to subtle oak notes as the wine lingers on the palate. Full of Zinfandel personality!

100% Gamay. L'Ancien comes from Jean Paul's oldest vines--hence the name of the wine--in his home village of Charnay in the southern Beaujolais. They range in age from 40 to 60 years old and are planted on slopes sporting the area's signature sandy clay-limestone soils, featuring the particular local "dorée" or "golden" limestone that is laden with iron. These older vines have always been farmed organically and harvested by hand and yield small, thick-skinned Gamay berries. As for all Terres Dorées reds, the vinification is traditional Burgundian. The grapes are rigorously sorted and destemmed, crushed and fermented with indigenous yeasts in concrete vats. The wine is aged in concrete until May-June after the vintage.
Bedrock's already tend to pack some pretty great vineyard sources into this bottling, but their bearish approach to the 2019 vintage means that a lot of juice that normally would have gone into the vineyard-designated wines has trickled down into this offering. Raised in a wide variety of French and Austrian barrels, puncheons, and foudres (about 10% new) and only racked at bottling, this wine has a dark core of perfumed, dense fruit. This is a classic California Zinfandel and will go down as one of the best Old Vine bottlings Bedrock has made.

It’s impossible to discuss Chassagne-Montrachet without mentioning the name Bernard Moreau. Year to year, this celebrated producer vinifies and bottles some of the purest, most thought-provoking wines of the appellation. Employing a style of wine making that might best be described as hands-off, Bernard produces Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays that are sensual, opulent and utterly delicious.
The bouquet bursts with rose petals and black currant, plus a peppery, savory edge thanks to the 30% whole cluster fruit. The medium to full-bodied palate charms with a succulent core of ripe, brambly fruit and polished tannins. A touch of new oak lends a little extra mid-palate depth en route to a nicely defined finish. Overall, this is a balanced and delicious effort.
Emblematic vintage of the estate, “Les Vénérables - Vieilles Vignes” is a selection of old vines, over 40 years old, with deep rooting, from our illustrious plots of Muscadet. Carefully selected, the old vines of this cuvée thrive on a land of mica schist and are harvested exclusively by hand in order to respect all the fruits. The wines, more concentrated, express all the complexity and finesse of the grape variety thanks to its prolonged aging on lees. A beautiful, slightly spicy mineral intensity accompanies floral notes followed by a very nice volume in the mouth. This cuvée will benefit from aging for a few years to fully express itself.
“Translucent crystalline color, green reflections. Attractive nose, citrus, spring scents, mineral dimension. The palate impresses with its rich and silky presence, the intensity and precision of its perfumes, the delicacy of its freshness. Nice wine. »90/100 Gilbert & Gaillard
Volnay combines breeding with nobility, delicacy, elegance, and feminity. A delicate violet and berry fragrance. One of the finest representatives of the Côte de Beaune. The Volnay is in the Côte de Beaune what the Chambolle-Musigny is in the Côte de Nuits. A feminine wine which is one of the only Burgundy Pinot Noir you can already enjoy and drink when young.
Pair with roasted meats and various cheeses.
Old Vine Red is a proprietary red wine made to replicate the field blends of many of the old vineyards across California. Predominantly comprised of Zinfandel, Old Vine Red combines pure fruit, a supple mouth feel and a rich, solid structure. A groundbreaking combination of varietals from multiple vintages, this wine has blazed the path for red blends for decades.
Aging on fine lies. A month before the bottling, the wine from the different barrels is put in a stainless steel tank to make the blend. The wine is finally fined and lightly filtered before bottling it according to the lunar calendar ("fruit day”).
Full-bodied, powerful and rich. Aromas of toasted almonds, ripe apples, white flowers and honey. They have remarkable persistence.
