"The 2017 vintage was by far one of the most challenging harvests we have experienced at CADE. But the resulting wines are what made the long days all the hard work worth it. The wine has aromas of blueberry, blackberry, coco nibs, cranraspberry, roasted coffee, clove, cinnamon, black pepper, mint, and fruit leather. The wine has a velvety texture with lush and prominent tannins and bright acidity.
There are flavors of boysenberry, blueberry pie, red cherry, cola, vanilla, graham cracker, and chocolate truffles."

"The 2015 Segla is a blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 43% Merlot, and a "seasoning" of 1% Petit Verdot and 1% Cabernet Franc, representing just over half the total crop, matured in 25% new wood. It has a fragrant, very precise bouquet with mineral-rich, very pure blackberry, blueberry and cold flint-like aromas. There is wonderful tension here for a deuxième vin. The palate is medium-bodied with a juicy opening, just a tingle of spice on the tip of the tongue. There is very fine tension here, moderate weight but great persistence and sense of energy on the finish."- Wine Advocate

2012 CADE Estate Cabernet Sauvignon, Howell Mountain
“The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate is gorgeous. (It) dazzles with its rich, textured fruit and incredibly welcoming personality. Hints of smoke, tar, licorice and menthol add complexity to the intense fruit. This is a wine I want to drink, not merely taste.”
95pts - Antonio Galloni
2013 CADE Estate Cabernet Sauvignon, Howell Mountain “Gloriously pure notes of mulberry, graphite, blackberry and blueberry soar from the glass and cascade over the palate. From the black cherry and dried herb aromatics to the sappy fruit flavors, Branding Iron Cabernet pulses with instantly approachable appeal. With deep fruit flavors that have a focused intensity yet feel round and broad on the palate, there’s a compelling density we have come to expect from western Oakville Cabernet, along with coating tannins, warm toasted oak and an extended finish.
Amiral de Beychevelle
The rigorous selection process undergone by the grand vin results in the creation of its younger brother, Amiral de Beychevelle. Despite being made from young vines, Amiral de Beychevelle benefits from the same growing techniques, meticulous sorting, and traditional barrel ageing. It has the same elegance and finesse as its older brother, but reveals its character more quickly, offering wine-enthusiasts the full vivacity of its youth. It can be kept for up to fifteen years, depending on the vintage.
The 2016 vintage confirms the refined, elegant character of Château Beychevelle’s wines. It benefits from a new dimension with a more precise, more generous structure. This is a wine of immense but controlled power, wrapped in a silky, voluptuous texture.
Cabernet Sauvignon 58%
Cabernet Franc 6 %
Despite the California drought, the 2014 vintage received enough well-timed spring rain, so the wine is not overly structured, instead it has beautiful balance between structure and softness. The vineyard always has a signature of black fruits and graphite, very full, yet light and mineral (“weight without heaviness”). This special wine will develop for many years.
Each label was hand stamped with the name of the vineyard by our younger son Kai when he was 14 years old.
Southern Wine and Spirits
The 2012 Opus One effuses fresh dark fruit aromas accentuated by subtler notes of forest-floor and graphite. The wine's round mouthfeel and satiny tannins wrap around classic flavors of cassis, blackberry and black cherry. This refined and age-worthy wine simultaneously offers a long lingering finish, with lively acidity and a sturdy structure at the close.

Bottled after maturing for 18 months, it already bodes quite well. Its hue is a rich deep red with violet highlights, typical of young wines from great vintages. An intense nose blends notes of cherry and blackberry with subtle hints of chocolate. It is ample and unctuous in the mouth, with a distinct fleshy character. Understated tannins prolong the tasting experience while lending softness to the wine. Thanks to its mature aromas and velvety texture, this wine is already ripe for tasting, although its concentration ensures that it will age well for many years to come. See for yourself.
Bright blackberry, red plum, and raspberry fruit with notes of cranberry, black tea, spice and coriander seed. Luscious and balanced, with toasty oak and a long finish.
Blend: 83%Cabernet Sauvignon, 9%Petit Verdot, 4%Cabernet Franc, 4% Merlot
" the medium garnet-purple colored 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon is spicy on the nose with cassis, plums and cedar scents. Medium-bodied and well balanced, it shows nice purity in the mouth with grainy tannins and good length."- Wine Advocate
The warm growing season gave this wine it’s rich and dark character. The nose is filled with black cherry, blackberry, cassis, and fig, which is perfectly complimented by the classic PlumpJack sage and mint. The palate is silky upon entry and opens up to juicy blackberry and black cherry. The balanced acid and well-integrated tannin give this wine energy and length and leads to a beautiful raspberry and spice finish.

On the palate, the dark fruit is balanced by fresh acidity and lush tannins that carry all the way over a lingering, elegant finish—with just a kiss of minerality. Enjoy this wine now, with everything from lamb burgers to filet mignon and fire-roasted portabello mushrooms—or lay the wine down and watch it continue to develop complexity in the bottle for years to come.
In your glass the wine introduces itself with enticing aromas of red and black fruit, baking spice, dark violets, lavender, wet stone, and cinnamon. The promise of all that delicious complexity is fulfilled with a racy Cabernet Sauvignon full of energy – juicy flavors of red plum, cherry, cassis, black tea, and cola – all beautifully packaged together with ripe, bright tannins made for right-now enjoyment as well as long term aging in your cellar.
"Fresh cassis and blueberries with crushed violets and stones, too. This is fresh and complex. The palate carries a smooth, supple and tautly refined brand of tannin and a succulently fresh core of blue plums and blueberries. Drink or hold." 95 Points James Suckling
This wine exudes power and elegance. Dense and focused with primary, bright, youthful, fresh characters. Plenty of ripe blue and red fruit accompanied by notes of mocha, carob, butterscotch, and toast. Hints of dried herb and rose petal. Long, clean, and fresh, its strong acid backbone is a hallmark of what will be another long-lived, collectible wine. Discernable tannins that are youthful yet lengthy complement the underlying intense fruit. Great texture! All the promise you like to find in a young wine.
Blend: 86% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc, 4% Petit Verdot
"This first-growth estate in St. Helena has produced a 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon that is a blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot. It is certainly one of the wines of the vintage. Gorgeously opaque purple, it offers up notes of spring flowers, blueberries, blackcurrants, some baking spice and graphite. It is full-bodied, concentrated and rich, with layers of fruit. The wine builds and builds on the palate, with a great finish of 45+ seconds. This is a sensational 2014 to drink over the next 20+ years." -Robert Parker, Wine Advocate
Fro the vertical tasting: "The last wine in the vertical, the 2014, had been bottled two weeks before I tasted it, and it is the highest production year for Spottswoode (4,922 cases), since the 5,713 cases made in 1992 and the 5,852 produced in 1991. The wine is a blend of 86% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc and 4% Petit Verdot. This wine shows oodles of fruit, blackcurrants, blueberries, black raspberries, charcoal, subtle oak and a full-bodied, inky, intense mouthfeel with a boatload of tannin, but the fruit is present to balance it out. This wine needs another several years of bottle age and, while not up to the levels of 2012 and 2013, it is a highly successful effort and capable of lasting 30–35 more years. Drink 2019–2054" -Robert Parker, Wine Advocate

"A small crop of 1,953 cases and a final blend of 92% Cabernet Sauvignon and 8% Cabernet Franc emerged from the 2008 vintage, that was known for the damaging fires north of Napa and Sonoma that caused smoke damage to Chardonnay and Pinot Noir vineyards in Anderson Valley and sites on the Sonoma Coast. The wine from Spottswoode is pure and rich with deep ruby/purple color, a touch of blackcurrants and floral notes, a medium to full body, slightly chunkier and less profound than the 2007, but still another top-notch effort from this first-growth terroir. It should continue to drink well for another 15–20 years. Drink 2016–2036."-Robert Parker, Wine Advocate
Limit 2 per customer.
"With the lowest percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon in of any of the wines from this vertical, the 2012 final blend was 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot. Production across the board in 2012 was high, and reflected in the 3,977 cases made at Spottswoode. This is a dramatic, flamboyant, modern-day version of the 2002. Dramatic blueberry, black raspberry and blackcurrant fruit, along with camphor, charcoal, white flowers and foresty notes all emerge from the impressive aromatics that soar from the glass. The intense, explosively rich, full-bodied palate is layered with beautiful purity, stunningly sweet, silky tannins and terrific presence and complexity. This is a gorgeous wine on a relatively fast evolutionary track, I suspect, but certainly it has 30 years of upside left. Drink 2016–2046." Robert Parker, Wine Advocate

#4 on Wine Enthusiast's Cellar Selection List Released this week!
"This remarkable wine from the famed family-farmed, organic estate impresses immediately in its depth of concentration and stately grace, imparting a wealth of rose-garden compost and wild truffle on the nose. Within the vibrant range of sensual flavor is salted caramel, black cherry and chocolate, alongside a twist of saddle and campfire coffee. Its grip of focused tannin suggests years of aging potential; enjoy best from 2023 to 2033."
"Yields continued to increase in 2013, with just over 4,000 cases of wine from a blend of 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Cabernet Franc and 4% Petit Verdot. This is another killer effort from Spottswoode. Inky bluish purple to the rim, it has hints of violets intermixed with sweet foresty notes, blackcurrants, chocolate and a touch of subtle smoke and earth. It is dense, with higher acidity and more noticeable structure than the 2012, but is as concentrated, dense and promising. Some patience is warranted in 2013, and I would suggest waiting another 5–6 years before pulling the cork on one. It is a 50-year wine at the very minimum and a great classic. Drink 2021–2071." 99+ Points -Robert Parker, Wine Advocate
The Spring Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon jumps out from the glass. Immense amounts of blackberry, blueberry pie, and rich chocolate dominate. Secondary elements of sweet char, caramel, and wet earth is also apparent. This wine is round and plush with black currant, caramel and sweet chocolate on the complex palate. The tannins are fuller this year, providing a wonderful backbone to the wine which is complemented by the mountain acidity.
Our 2017 Proprietary Red Napa Valley is a cellar-worthy wine that will reward patience over the next decade or more. Blackberry, leather and Spanish cedar are revealed at first swirl, complemented by subtle hints of dried sage. Dark and opaque, the concentrated, complex palate brings generous notes of summer cherries, wild blackberries, berry compote and figs, layered with Mexican chocolate and freshly scraped vanilla bean. Evolving in the glass, characteristics of plum, brown sugar and spice slowly emerge before a lengthy finish. The best is yet to come for this wine, as its focused intensity and firm, young tannins will age beautifully into sublime texture and fine, velvety tannins.
