Noe Wine Walk
This Merlot is loaded with bold aromas of violets, dried cherries, toasty oak, and spice. This is a Merlot of depth and dimension on the palate, offering rich, layered black fruit flavors interwoven with nuances of blueberry, pomegranate, vanilla and sweet tobacco. A velvety texture is framed by sturdy yet supple tannins on the finish.
Blend: 88% Merlot, 12% Petite Sirah
Chambers and Chambers
Bonny Doon Vineyard is a wine producer located in Santa Cruz on California's Central Coast and is well-known for its unconventional array of wines with quirky labels. The proprietor, Randall Grahm, is considered to be one of California's original "Rhône Rangers", and helped popularize grape varieties like Syrah, Grenache and Mourvèdre. Winery note: "In appearance, almost Cate Blanchettish in its pale elegance, a beautiful subtle salmon color (the wine, not Cate). On the nose, subtle suggestions of rose hips, linden flower, black currant as well as a slightly toastiness (methinks perhaps due to the extended bâtonnage and lees contact). On the palate, wonderful bracing natural acidity, good weight and comforting viscosity. Some discreet floral and fruity suggestions, (mostly ribes with background black-cherry notes). Let us presently offer a simple prayer: While virtually all of the ’18 vintage Vin Gris will be consumed within a year of purchase, may there be a few smart cookies who put the wine aside for several years to see it reach its full potential (and will be enormously well rewarded for doing so)." *Biodynamic*
WINEMAKER’S NOTES: The Love Red grapes were harvested in the second week of September to preserve the grape’s natural acidity. The Carignan and Syrah were both whole cluster fermented and destemmed in concrete and stainless tanks. The Valdiguié went under carbonic fermentation in stainless steel. Aged for 8 months in concrete and neutral French oak barrels.
VITICULTURAL AREA: The grapes come from 70 year old vines in Solano County’s Green Valley. This area is tucked between Napa and Suisun Valley. Parenti and Wirth Ranch each provide Syrah and Valdiguié for this blend. The Carignan comes solely from Parenti Vineyard. The grapes of each vineyard grow in clay loam soils and come from mostly dry-farmed and head-pruned vines.
BLEND: 77% Carignan, 15% Valdiguié, 8% Syrah,
ALC: 12.5% alcohol
Pale salmon in color, this full-bodied wine had a fine mousse and a creamy, rich texture. Complex aromas and flavors of raspberry, baked pear and cherry are complemented by a hint of toasted vanilla. The balance of fruit, minerals and crisp acidity lead to a round mouthfeel and lasting finish.
75% Pinot Noir, 25% Chardonnay
This is a delicious Petaluma Gap expression of California Chardonnay. Accessible to traditional Chardonnay fans while also appealing to those who appreciate a more natural style, it combines weight and body with a zippier acidity and balance. Fermented 80% in Stainless, 20% in oak (with 10% new) and 15% malolactic fermentation gives mineral undertones to a crowd pleasing domestic Chardonnay!
Sherman & Hooker Shebang is a project of Morgan Twain-Peterson (son of Ravenswood founder Joel Peterson, who grew up in the world of wine in Sonoma, having made wine with his dad at age 5. In addition to this project, Morgan also produces small amounts of old-vine, heirloom red and white blends, Syrah and Zinfandel under the Bedrock Wine Company label. Sherman & Hooker is named after the two Civil War generals who founded Bedrock Vineyard in 1854. This Tenth Cuvee is a multi-vintage red wine from Bedrock Wine Company, is a rich blend of old-vine Zinfandel, Carignane, Alicante Bouchet, Mourvedre, Petite Sirah and other field-blend varietals that explodes with aromas and flavors of red currant and blackberry with hints of clove and white pepper that adds a spiciness to the finish. This is a fun wine that is perfect for everyday drinking but also carries some serious pedigree since the base for this mouth-filling red blend comes from Bedrock Vineyard vines that are over 100 years old.
