Though this is but a humble IGT Basilicata Rosso, don’t be fooled. It’s 100% Aglianico del Vulture, grown in biodynamically farmed vineyards, hand harvested in the first 10 days of October. The wine undergoes a 6 day maceration-fermentation in stainless steel, then into used oak barriques for 12 months in an underground cellar carved from the tuff soil.
Deep ruby red in color, this wine offers intense aromas of black cherry, blackberry, violet and spices. On the palate, it is elegant and smooth, with notes of berries and strawberry jam.
Pairs well with soups, cold meats, fresh and aged cheeses, courses with meat sauces, mushrooms, truffles, white meats and red meats.
