Podere Orto Amai

$33.99

This is a gorgeous, hard-won rosato from Giuliano Salesi and Simona De Vecchis of Podere Orto, whose estate sits at what they call "The Trivium" which is a borderless area where three of Italy's most prominent central provinces meet: Umbria, Tuscany, and Lazio.

Vinification: A wine dear to our heart. A dark, sultry, chewy rosato of Sangiovese, Ciliegiolo, Procanico, Verdello, Greghetto, Malvasie and a lil Moscato. In 2017, a hail storm ripped through Lazio and and destroyed much of Podere Orto's harvest. This wine is the only one they produced for the vintage, and, as such, it is a crystalline example of beauty salvaged from hardship.

Tasting Notes: Deep, dark pink in the glass, crystalline and clear. Floral, mineral, herbaceous. Grippy palate, soft tannins. A very complex and contemplative rosato that will benefit from a decant or a bit of age.
