Michele Satta Piastraia
The vineyard which produces this wine was planted in 1991 with Merlot, Cabernet, Sangiovese and Syrah with the intention of expressing an affirmation of the highest quality from the Bordelaise Varietals planted in Bolgheri, combined with the ability of elegance throughout the Tuscan Sangiovese and the complexity of the Mediterranean Syrah.
"This is a blend of equal parts Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah and Sangiovese from 20-year-old vines aged in oak for 18 months. The Michele Satta 2017 Bolgheri Superiore Piastraia offers intensity and bold fruit with plenty of rich blackberry, dried cherry and toasted spice. The is a full and generous wine from a hot vintage that does not hold back in term of fruit density or intensity. It would welcome some pork-filled ravioli. The soft tannins add to the wine's balanced full-bodied approach. " 93 points Robert Parker
