Kruger Rumpf Münsterer Dautenpflänzer Riesling Spätlese
The grapes for the Dautenpflänzer Spätlese were picked at a higher oechsle level than the im Pitterberg Spatlese, at around 98 degrees. This is from the steeper section of this Grand Cru, the same vineyard that the GG wine is picked from. Yield here is under 40 hL/Ha. The difference in selection is not about ripeness or botrytis, but for GG, some rows have had more leaves removed, whereas the Spätlese vines have more leaves to protect the acidity. Grapes are harvested in mid-October, crushed and pressed directly into 100% neutral stuckfass. The wine was fermented naturally, racked in the end of April/beginning of May and was bottled in mid-May.
