Domaine Combier Crozes-Hermitage 2016
The wine comes from hand-harvested vineyards near the town of Pont de l’Isere, where the soils are a mix of sand and clay with plenty of stones. The grapes are completely de-stemmed, and fermented in temperature-controlled steel cuves, after which the wine spends a year in two and three year-old barriques.
In the glass, this wine has a deep, brilliant purple color. The nose explodes with aromas of super-ripe wild cherries, cassis, and orange zest, seasoned with coriander, cloves, and white pepper. Concentrated and opulent on the palate with wonderful brightness and vibrancy. Mouth-coating flavors that seem to gain weight as the wine takes on air. Long and persistent finish.
