Chambeyron-Manin Côte Rôtie 2015
In the Northern Rhône, at the southern end of Ampuis, Véronique and her brother continue to cultivate the tiny 0.5 hectare parcel of 50 year old Syrah (Serine clone) vines. The parcel is farmed using organic methods without the use of any “phytosanitiares” inputs or any other unnatural by products. All vineyard work is done by hand on Côte Brune’s steep schist dominated soil. In the cellar, the grapes are vinified using whole clusters with native yeasts in concrete tanks. The wine is aged in 550L barrique for 18 months before bottling.
Chambeyron-Manin’s miniscule .5 hectare vineyard is planted exclusively to the Serine clone of syrah. Dark plum, black pepper, and a touch of wildflowers interplay with subtle notes of mineral and smoke.
