When first opening the bottle the aromas are very rye forward with clove, all spice and oak dominating the initial impressions. As it begins to open up with a little bit of air the spices integrate into a more gentle caramel and vanilla bean singing lead followed by the chorus of sweet dessert-like flavors like créme brûlée, and banana's foster.
The palate is very rich and mouth coating with an intense spice to the finish that lingers consistently. More flavors of vanilla and oak give way to a potpourri of baking spices like cinnamon, mace, nutmeg and even a little cayenne pepper.
This non-chill filtered whiskey is really smooth, especially for being bottled in Bond at 100 proof. It will also appease the barrel strength whiskey fans with its rich mouth coating texture and long spicy finish.
