5 Sentidos is named after the five senses that their mezcaleros use to produce their agave spirits. The producers of this mezcal do not use any model machinery or tools, being guided only by their senses throughout the production process. The brand was launched by El Destilado restaurant in centro Oaxaca. The restaurant is known for it's creative menu, unique cocktails, and exception agave spirits. The brand is a curated tour of Mexico with a wide range of expressions that are made by some of the best mezcaleros in the region. Cinco Sentidos is uncertified mezcal and is labeled as "Destilado de Agave".
5 Sentidos Sierra Negra is made with agave Sierra Negra. The agave is hand mashed, fermented with spring water and tepehuaje bark in stone. This bark provides an organic source of nitrogen that is used to stabilize the fermentation. Albarradas is approximately 7,500 feet above sea level and too cold to ferment the agave without some sort of stabilizer. Once fermented, this mezcal is double distilled in clay pot stills. The first batch of this mezcal was released in the US in 2017 and was a total of 181 bottles. The ABV of each batch will vary slightly.
The wine comes from the Grand Cru village of Chouilly in the Chardonnay vineyards of the Côte des Blancs. It is crisp, mineral textured and still developing. Bright acidity and lemon-zest flavors give this wine its lively and also full-bodied character.
The Rafanelli family is now in its fourth generation of growing grapes and making wine in the Dry Creek Valley. Our winery is small and family operated. Our focus has always been on quality over quantity.
At A. Rafanelli Winery, we work hard at maintaining a tradition of producing premium grapes and handcrafting world class wines. We believe that the wines are first made in the vineyard and then achieve their maximum potential through traditional winemaking practices such as open top fermentation and non-filtration.
Our quaint and rustic winery sits on a knoll overlooking the scenic Dry Creek Valley and is surrounded by some of our terraced hillside vineyards. The winery consistently specializes in some of the finest Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot.
Colour: Sumptuous auburn gold.
Nose: Rich and complex, with notes of toffee and butterscotch combining with ripe peach and bitter orange.
Palate: Superbly structured, with initial notes of soft apricot and cream, offset by developing flavours of old leather and oak, with a touch of honey.
Finish: Very long and well balanced, progressing from crème brulée to a gentle oak flourish.
This approachable 2016, delivers notes of rainier cherries, currants, elderberries, incense, forest floor, and dried herbs with bright acidity, adding freshness and verve to the long persistent finish.
85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot
In 2016, the vineyard sources remained mostly the same as we continued to work with our favorite local growers to craft this wine. The majority of the Cabernet Sauvignon comes from Ink Grade (on the back side of Howell Mountain), which provides the framework
and structure to carry this wine. We headed south incorporating vineyards in Pope Valley, Stags Leap District and Oak Knoll that complimented the abundance of tannin, color and structure already in place. This diversity and range within Napa Valley has allowed us to craft a wine which showcases the unique Napa Valley terroir in an approachable, elegant style.
The spirit opens with baked apple aromas and then transitions into ripe red apples with some nutty notes from the extensive barrel aging. The Camut line of Calvados always show better with age, as the double distillation, while making them more neutral in their youth, frees the spirit from impurities that show with age. The palate is soft, rich and oozing with baking spice, intense earth and cooked pomme fruit. It is the top of the line for 15+ year old Calvados.
Charles Neal Notes:
A blend of 25-30 year old Calvados, 80 proof
- Deep Amber.
- Refined, rich, sweet nose of baked apples, melted toffee, honey and a hint of tobacco.
- Plenty of bright apple fruit in the mouth with a finishing note of cigar spice and almond.
A superb nose of mirabelle plum characterizes the lovely eau de vie from this beautiful domaine. Rich nose, a silky mouthfeel and phenomenal length. Great!
Reserve de Semainville (30-40yr old)
Appely Brut was the first product we made, back in 2001. It’s made with the traditional champagne method – a refermentation in the bottle to make the sparkle, then turning the bottles upside down and ‘riddling’ the yeast into the neck, ending with ‘disgorging’ the yeast out of the bottle.
Clay-limestone. Manual harvesting, grapes are sorted on the vine and then on the truck equipped with a sorting table. 100% destemming. 16 days fermentation preceded by 5 days of maceration at 12°c/14°c to extract the colour and fruit.100% in vats (aging takes place over 10 months, no new casks). The idea is to create a crisp fruity wine that is delicious to drink when young. This wine was not filtered; light sediment may form in the shoulder of the bottle. This wine comes from a plot located in the village of Meloisey.
Agnès' Auxey-Duresses Blanc is 100% Chardonnay. Ripe orchard and citrus fruits leap out of the glass with an underlying minerality. While the nose is generous with fruit flavors, once the wine attacks the palate you realize there is plenty of tension and zing to balance with the richness of the fruit. This is an exciting wine, one that delivers an abundance of energy and nerve while maintaining its richness and fruit concentration.
Great to have in your arsenal for extracting old, difficult or broken corks.
Twin prongs slip between cork and inside bottle neck. Twisting out and upward removes the cork. Includes protective black plastic sheath.

Alain Graillot founded his domaine in Crozes-Hermitage in 1985, and rapidly became one of the most in-demand producers in the Northern Rhone for his exuberant, robust, and complete Syrah-based wines. Alain owns 50 acres of 30-year-old Crozes-Hermitage vines on the flat alluvial plain between the Rhône and Isère rivers, in well-draining soils of sand, gravel, and stones. He also has two tiny parcels in St. Joseph, from which he makes a slightly fresher, more early-drinking wine than the remarkable Crozes-Hermitage that constitutes the majority of his production.
Alain harvests by hand and works organically, employing whole-cluster fermentation and aging the wines primarily in 1-to-3 year old barrels purchased from some of the top estates in Burgundy. In great years, he makes tiny quantities of a barrel selection knows as “La Guiraude,” a rare and spectacular wine. Graillot’s wines are structured, but still very appealing and approachable in their youth, and their longevity is truly remarkable… These are must-haves for any serious Northern Rhone fan.
Our vineyards are a patchwork of isolated soil types that you may recognize as Reva, Lorraine, Seymour’s and Pandora (very much wines of a place). Between and in route to these well healed sites are vineyards that are not so obviously distinct. We have blended these disparate and ‘disenfranchised’ blocks into a single wine we call Patrina. Like the Gypsy trails from which Patrina derives its name, we hope these bottles lead you to some great merriment, or more.
While the grapes for Patrina are raised with the same detail and attentiveness as the rest of our vineyards, and then fermented open top with indigenous yeast, gentle pump overs and a few punch downs once soft, it is bottled unfined and unfiltered after ‘just’ 22 months in barrel to preserve its youthful exuberance. All the density and concentration folks have come to expect from our reds with black and blue fruits, mineral notes, and flowers.
A tribute to the late Angelo Rocca, this delicious wine opens with aromas suggesting leather, truffle, mature black-skinned berry, fragrant blue flower and a whiff of menthol. The smooth, full-bodied palate offers mouthfuls of red cherry, juicy raspberry, and a note of cake spice while fine-grained tannins provide polished support.
