There is a tremendous power in the concentration of this vintage that shows through in the broad and silky mouthfeel of this wine. The dark red cherries that are the hallmark of this region blend with the impact of 30% whole cluster to create beautiful layers of rich fruit and spice leading to a long finish.

The nose enters with a deep black cherry and raspberry compote. The Mourvedre is perched on a steep hillside looking over all the alpine views. The wine from this site is always surprising in nature given the warmer climate (most of the offerings taste old world, which is counterintuitive). And this wine is particularly special as it's my first 100% Mourvedre.

Have you ever felt like you had a whole meal in a wine? The flavors start with the appetizer course of shitake mushroom. You feel your way through the savory mid-palate that begs for some rosemary herb-crusted beef to greet it, then you finish with a zing of raspberry coulis as a grand farewell. This wine swings through flavors like Indian Jones. It tastes different with wasabi peas (although still good!) as it does with a beef teriyaki (yes we paired it with both in one evening to much delight). It’s a shapeshifter that brings to mind the magical meal gum from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Enjoy this wine that I think of as the essence of Fall itself.

Winemaker Notes: The nose presents rich black cherry with a delicate minerality, bright plum and milk chocolate on the palate, finishes with a touch of espresso and vanilla. A lively and approachable year for Tempranillo which is typically more brooding. A wonderful everyday drinking wine that pairs as well with steak as it would with potato chips and French onion dip. Falanghina and Cortese are both grown by second-generation farmers in the Clarksburg AVA on the Sacramento River Delta. This region is known for Chenin Blanc, another aromatic white. Falanghina has searing acidity and luscious white floral undertones. Cortese has an orange peel character that is tempered by a day on skins before pressing. This tiny bit of skin contact does not impact the color of the wine but does help give it an appealing textural quality that balances the abundance of citrus in Cortese. Together, these grapes blend to create a wine that is aromatic, bright, and thirst quenching.
