"This wine opens to a thin and streamlined appearance. The 2014 Brunello di Montalcino mirrors the main characteristics of the vintage with a clean mouthfeel and bright berry aromas. The Brunellos from 2014 are better suited to near or medium-term drinking and that's definitely the case with this wine. I'd suggest a pairing with your favorite pasta dish topped with creamy cheese sauce. Sangiovese has the natural acidity to cut through any fatty foods. The year 2016 was a good one for grapes in the northern part of Sonoma County. Our cooler vineyard sites had the unique advantage of a long and moderate growing season. With this mellow, even weather, our fruit ripened gently. The result: deep flavors with complex, integrated tannins, and lively characteristics that make this vintage one of our best.
Four hillside Cabernet vineyard sites, all with mineral-rich volcanic soils, are always the first focus of this blend. In 2016, our Merlot harvest was particularly incredible, yielding stunning acidity with full and silky tannins. It was a perfect partner to the vivid fruit profile of our Alexander Valley Cabernet vineyards. This year's blend of the two achieves an uncommon, sophisticated balance.

Araujo is considered one of the greatest Napa Valley wines of all time, and "the object of a cult like no other among California wine lovers" according to Robert Parker. One of the most extraordinary vineyards of Napa Valley Araujo's Eisele Vineyard, which boasts a 40+ year history of producing compelling wines.
Made from 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Cabernet Franc and 4% Petit Verdot, the wine exudes heady aromas of black currant, blackberry and dark plum, enhanced by touches of anise, smoke, cinnamon and cola. In the mouth, the fruit notes are pure cassis spiced with nutmeg and sarsaparilla, leading to more earthy notes of loam, graphite and espresso. The wine is dense and concentrated but balanced, its core sweetness embraced by firm but silky tannins; the wine seems to dance across the palate into a lingering finish of spice and minerals. Notes winemaker Françoise Peschon: Beginning with soft creaminess on the attack, becoming powerful and rich in the mouth, and finishing with a supple sweetness, there is tension in this wine that holds your interest throughout. It is a wine of power, persistence and grace.
